She comes on a shell a breathless beauty with pearls in her hair birthed by the sea I see her and worship but she reminds me to straighten myself and crowns me with honeycomb. Pulled between the Heavens and the Earth this energy could never leave me touched

There’s an itch just out of reach a nagging between my shoulder blades I can feel your gaze across the table full of delight, piercing into me already figuring out what buttons to push every answer filed away for later until satisfaction can bruise

Launch a million dreams into the sky Let them fly, let them fly Take flight like birds, wings outstretched Joy into feathered faces etched Flying for the sake of flying Dreaming so we are not dying Dreams settle down on a soft nest’s perch Where dreams rest, this is church. Hearts alight, like stars in the distance Dreams are the meaning of existence

Have you ever flown so fucking fast? Plumage spread out From wingtip to wingtip Have i ever fallen so fucking far? Not from the eaves of houses But from canyon tops, Crest of feathers vibrant in the sunset Diving down the sides of cliffs Like the 81.4 times before Over and over I fall Learning from the repetition That I will never have enough In those moments Everything fades To the shades of your eyes Under the moon lit sky Full of mischief A hundred times I swoop down Always catching myself in a glide Just over the water below. I walk with her to the dream kingdom hand in hand, so soft. We meander past the honey makers, safe from their tiny swords. Yellow stars full of savory seeds, flowering tall in the afternoon sun, cast shadows on our heads. They long to have a voice here. The forest rises taller still, high branches swaying in the breeze. We are transported in streams of glee, our gales of laughter feeding the melody of the forest.

Naked by the lake under summer trees Branches covered with broad leaves create shade to protect our pale skin Dresses discarded in the heat We jump into cool water, healing my fractured heart.
