Breath Play- Weekly Deep Dive

As part of my contract, I am required to do a weekly deep dive into a kinky subject of my choosing, specifically things that interest me to do. I hope the information in these short articles help to educate people.

Breath play involves cutting off the oxygen supply to the brain to cause a feeling of euphoria.
There are different levels of breath play, from covering someone’s mouth and nose with a hand to pressing on the carotid artery.
The common carotid arteries are located on the sides of the throat. While other parts of the artery exist, they can be dangerous to apply pressure to.
According to a martial arts website, “a skillful blood choke will knock someone out within… 2–20 seconds.” The person will typically wake up with in 10 seconds of the choke being released. A lot of that is dependent on how hard you press on the artery. Pressing lightly on the carotid artery can give a similar high feeling without much of the danger as firm pressure because some oxygen rich blood can still get to the brain.
You should never press on the windpipe which is located in the front of the neck. It does not take much pressure to collapse the windpipe.
There are other ways to interrupt the breath. The mouth and nose can be covered, pinched closed, etc. Requiring someone to hold their breath for extended periods of time is also an option. Some people also combine breath play with water. These methods depend heavily on the individuals involved. Some people are capable of holding their breath for longer periods of time.
