Summer Days
I am Sanctuary-
Deep and beautiful,
Pooling at your feet,
Dark and quiet
But only in the Spring.
Summer comes-
Gloriously drunk
Bright, hot, orange haired days
Questing for anything
That will quench the thirst
Summer grants no shelter
No shade in which to escape
That molten sky
Cloudless heat that will consume
Summer is loud rock and hard lemonade,
Bodies rippling with pleasure
Sweat the only rain for the dry earth
That cracks and begs for mercy
