Maybe It’s Our Chemistry

Chemical Play is a form of sensation play the use of some chemical substance to create different tactile sensations before, during, or after pay. Many of the chemicals come in the form of liquid, gel, oil, or cream and, when applied to sensitive areas like genitalia, nipples, and anus, can create a sensation that can range from a mild tingle to intense burning. When used during sex, chemicals can intensify or prolong orgasm.

The most important thing to remember about this type of play is that once you apply the chemical, you can’t take it back. Sometimes, it can be wiped away and the sensation is lessened, but most often, it is not something that you can safeword out of. So, negotiation, testing, and preparation is extremely important before you do anything. It is necessary to test any substances or combinations of substances that you plan on using on everyone involved before each scene. Allergies can develop or become apparent the first time something is used or worsen with each contact. A person may not have encountered a chemical or may be allergic to one or more of the ingredients. Chemicals can have serious side effects including rash, hives, or worse. Each chemical should be tested individually as well as in combination with other chemicals you plan to use, as combining chemicals can make a reaction more intense. When you understand the expected sensation or reaction, detecting an adverse reaction becomes easier.
