Weekly Deep Dive- Rough Body Play
“Without pain, without sacrifice, we would have nothing.” — Tyler Durden, Fight Club
The term “rough body play” can refer to a wide variety of activities within the kink lifestyle, including punching, kicking, slapping, and striking. This type of play is generally associated with a more primal side of BDSM, but it can be just as controlled and precise as any other form of impact.
So why punch someone you love? There are a variety of reasons. One, punching can enhance struggling and fighting during CNC scenes. Two, it can be a quieter alternative to spanking, Three, it can be wonderfully painful, usually days after the scene has taken place.
Punching inside of a scene is not the same as a punch thrown in a fight. You aren’t there to actually harm the other person, so you can’t just make a fist a swing. Here are somethings to consider. Never use your full strength or a closed, firm fist. The force required to strike is far much less than you might imagine. Aim to use about 50 to 60 percent of your full strength (this of course depends on the size/strength of the top and the bottom). Use the flat part of your fist, as you would in a fist bump. Make sure your thumb is on the outside of your fingers instead of folded underneath them. Don’t wind up your punch by drawing your arm way back. Strike from about 6 inches away from the target area. This will give you more control while still delivering quite a blow.
